CHRIST’s VOICE
DEAN’S DESK
Dear Friends,
Greetings from Rev.Dr. A. Joseph Lourdu Raja, Dean of studies, Christ Hall Seminary!
The motto of Christ Hall Seminary is ‘PROCLAIM CHRIST’. The proclamation could be done in various ways and means. One of the social communications media is print media. Regarding print media, it has developed up to the extend of E-Journal, E-Book and Audio book. Cardinal William Baum as the Prefect of the Congregation for the Catholic Education has suggested that our institutes of priestly formation “must today urgently need to face a common care of fundamental questions concerning the personal conduct of receivers, the pastoral care of Mass Media and specialized formation for particular work. (Guide to the Training of Future Priests, Congregation for a Catholic Education. March 19, 1986). The new code of the Canon Law 666, 747, 761, 779, 804, 822, 823, 1063, 1369 also speaks of Mass Media under the following headings of 1. Human Communication, 2. Means and Instruments of Communication and the Church, 3. A Pastoral Approach to mass media in general, 4. The pastoral approach to the individual media. This house journal is also taking into consideration of the above points and makes use of them.
We concentrate here not only the academic side but also give importance to other extra-curricular activities. One of the extra-curricular activities is the publication of this creative and alternative journal, which holds the title “CHRIST’S VOICE.” This journal is written by our candidates, for the candidates. The uniqueness of this years, ‘Christ’s Voice’ is the combined effort both the Spirituality courses and the Initiation courses activities.
This house journal comprises of a brief report of the different activities. They are categorized into three main headings. They are 1. Spiritual Formation, 2. Intellectual Formation, 3. Extra-Curricular Activities. This journal is unique because it is prepared by our candidates, for the candidates. Therefore, this journal is a dissemination of the experiences of our candidates which they acquired from these activities.
This house journal helps the candidates to collect, prioritize, edit and publish it. It also helps to impart the activities of the seminary to the public, particularly to the State as well as to the Central Government.
I extend my sincere thanks to our Board of Bishops, Fr. Rector, Staff, and students particularly to the Coordinators, Typists, Layout and Wrapper Designers and to those who wrote and prepared the Quotes. I thank Dr. Hendry De Almeida who helped to correct and polish the language.
